The Travis Manion Foundation, through its Veteran Mentor Program, works with students at several area high schools, and twice a year, these students, along with their mentors, participate a National Week of Service. I’m excited to let you know that on Saturday, April 22 (Earth Day!) Point Breeze will be hosting 300+ volunteers, as part of our National Week of Service. Volunteer groups will consist of local high school students, military service members and veterans, teachers and high school staff, as well as parents, and other community leaders.
This is where you come in. Point Breeze has no shortage of motivated community organizations and individuals with lots of exciting ideas and visions for improving the neighborhood, but man power is often lacking. This is your chance! Do you have a community garden that could use a spring planting? A wall that could use a mural? A vacant lot that needs some TLC? Submit your project to us ASAP, and we’ll help you get it done.
So, how does this work? In order for your project to be included in the Day of Service, you must agree to be present on April 22 to oversee your volunteers, and you need to provide all necessary equipment. Don’t have the supplies? Let us know your idea anyway and we’ll see if we can help. If your project is accepted, you’ll need to come to Chew Park at 8:00 am on Saturday, April 22 to collect your volunteers and lead them to your project site.

What if want to volunteer but don’t have a project?
That’s GREAT! We probably have projects without leaders, or projects that need more leaders, so fill out the form anyway, even if some of the fields don’t apply.
What if I have an idea but I’m out of town or unable to volunteer?
See above! Fill out the form with your idea, or email email@example.com and we can discuss.
Hey, I think I might know another way I can help!
Oh, you have a donation, you say? You know someone who can donate 300 sandwiches? Email Amanda! firstname.lastname@example.org
If I do a clean-up event, what do I do with the trash?!
We got you covered – we’ll arrange pickups with the city.
Is this the same day as the Citywide Spring Clean Up?
NO! That’s April 8.
